Rose E. LeBarron
Lake Luzerne, N.Y. – Rose E. LeBarron of East River Drive passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. She was 80. Born on April 20, 1927 in Cambridge, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Florence “Flossie” (Schaeffer) Hover. Rose married Ownie LeBarron of Cambridge and purchased a home on Edie Road in Wilton, residing there for almost fifty years. After her husband died in 2002, she relocated to Lake Luzerne. She worked as a seamstress in clothing factories her entire life, until 1982 when the Troy Shirt Factory closed in Glens Falls. Rose especially loved sewing the little girl dresses. When the factory closed, she “retired” and became a waitress at her son’s restaurant which he affectionately named after her, “Rose’s Diner.” She worked with him until he closed the diner in 1987 due to health reasons. At that time, Rose finally retired and enjoyed life at home with her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, collecting chicken figurines, watching soap operas, race car driver Jeff Gordon and spending time with family. Rose loved having her great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Caitlin, at her house to play and have sleepovers. She was very thankful for reuniting with her daughter, Nancy, after being separated for many years. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her son, Harvey LeBarron and all her brothers and sisters except for one brother, Edward Hover of Cuba, N.Y. Survivors also include her two daughters, Patricia Priest Diehl of Saratoga Springs and Nancy Neudeck of Delevan, N.Y., fourteen grandchildren and several great-grand-children. Veronica, Rose’s granddaughter, would like to thank the nursing staff on the third floor of the Towers, Dr. Kevin Dooley, Dr. Stephen Monn, High Peaks Hospice and Linda and Woody Hammond. A special thank you to Nabil and Griebe of Glens Falls Hospital for all their support and help at such a difficult time. Relatives and friends gathered on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs. A burial service will be later in the spring at Maplewood Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Rose’s name to High Peaks Hospice, 667 Bay Rd., Suite 1, Queensbury, N.Y. 12804. |
