West Avenue could become the new Broadway with current development trends, and by summer 2009, another condominium complex will be opening its doors.
Pointe West Condominiums will feature 32 residential units for sale through Re/max Premier at the site at 2 West Avenue. “This site is the definition of Saratoga living. It’s a really unique spot because we can see the city skyline on one side, and the open space of a golf course on the other,” said developer Gerard Wise. “It’s where the city and the country intersect.” Site clearing began last fall and construction will begin in the next few weeks. The structure will be built by Bonacio Construction. What sets Pointe West Condominiums apart from other condos in the city is the price. The smallest apartment starts at $298,000. “There is a missing price range for condos in Saratoga Springs, and we will be filling that with what we will offer,” said Janine D’Angelo, a licensed salesperson for Re/max Premier. “Comparing our condos to the other ones in town is like comparing apples to oranges.” Associate Broker Dan Gaba explained that while these are lower prices, they did not sacrifice amenities while planning the condos. They will feature granite countertops, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, a gas fireplace, central air conditioning and ample parking. “Each unit has everything a single family home would have except the yard and the maintenance work,” Gaba said. The units will also have a washer and dryer, a dishwasher and accessible basement storage space. For those who are interested in seeing what the Pointe West will have to offer before a shovel hits the ground, Bonacio Construction has build a life-sized show room to model one of the units. Customers can take a walk through to get a feel of what the real thing will look like, Gaba said. “The quality has a chance to speak for itself. People can actually go see it, feel it, experience the condos,” he said. An added feature of the location of Pointe West is it’s proximity to the Saratoga Train Station, Saratoga Hospital and CDTA bus routes. “Overall, this is the place where everything comes together off Broadway. If you have to use a car, you can. If you don’t, you don’t need to,” Wise said. He is hoping that Pointe West will attract commuters from Albany or New York City. “We are in the middle of the next big growth area. West Avenue is the second most traveled road in the city and we have the right combination of city and country to give residents a unique experience,” Gaba said.
