The Saratoga TODAY family is thrilled to welcome a new member of our team. As of Wednesday, June 27, Eric DeGrechie has joined us as Sports Editor.

“I am extremely pleased to have Eric on board and I am confident that his in-depth knowledge of the local sports scene will enhance our already comprehensive sports coverage,” said Publisher Chad Beatty.

Eric has been a Saratoga resident his entire life, minus a few brief years when he attended the University at Albany for a BA in English and Journalism.

Eric brings to Saratoga TODAY a strong background in the local sports scene. As a Blue Streak, he watched his twin sisters, Lisa and Tami, on the Saratoga’s nationally-ranked girls cross country program.

He also covered sports from 2000-2006 for The Saratogian. During his time with the Saratogian, Eric developed a strong background in thoroughbred racing and covered five Triple Crown campaigns and four Kentucky Derbys. Last summer, you could hear Eric on “Battle of the Handicappers” with Dan Murphy on Fox Sports 980. Eric will be spearheading the Saratoga TODAY Winner’s Circle, a weekly insert for racing season.

After a one year hiatus from print journalism where he worked at Clear Channel in sales for WGY and Fox Sports 980, he is thrilled to be back in the local sports scene.

"I'm very excited to be joining the Saratoga Today staff,” said DeGrechie. “I look forward to catching up with all of my friends from the local Saratoga sports scene. I barely lasted a year away from it before I came running back. This will be a lot of fun."
