Eileen Kelly Smith
Wilton, NY – Eileen Kelly Smith of Traver Road passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at her home. She was 84. Born on July 29, 1923 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Agnes Cain Kelly. She was a graduate of Corning Free Academy and Saint James Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Hornell. During World War II, Eileen served as a cadet nurse at Holleran General Hospital on Staten Island, NY and then continued her career as a registered nurse in the operating room at Corning Hospital and Saratoga Hospital. She was a member of Saint Clement’s Roman Catholic Church in Saratoga Springs. Eileen loved to walk in Saratoga parks and on the beach at Nags Head, NC. She will always be treasured by her family as a loving mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by two brothers, Robert Kelly and Thomas Kelly, Jr. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Raymond Smith; her daughter, Corinne Smith Geiger and her husband Kevin of North Pomfret, VT; her two sons, Jeffrey Smith and his wife Jeanne of Endwell, NY and Timothy Smith and his wife Judith of Lakewood, CO; one sister, Virginia Kelly of Corning, NY; one brother, Joseph Kelly of Statesboro, GA; her aunt, Eleanor Palmer of Corning, NY; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. today, April 11, 2008 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave, Saratoga Springs.
