Hello readers and welcome to my first ever column.
I’m a young reporter in Saratoga Springs, flying high and feeling as though I have the world in the palm of my hand. Though this is not my first reporting job, I am greatly looking forward to the new experiences that lay before me. I was born and raised in Glens Falls and am a graduate of Glens Falls High School, Adirondack Community College with an associate’s degree in humanities/liberal arts and SUNY New Paltz with a bachelor’s in journalism. It was professors Rebecca Leung and Joe Dowd who inspired me the most to “join the club” that is the newspaper business. Throughout college (and after my first reporting job at The Saratogian) I continuously toyed with forgetting about journalism to become a high school English teacher. After leaving The Saratogian to pursue that dream at the University at Albany, I found myself missing the erratic lifestyle of a reporter in a fantastic city like Saratoga Springs. Life happens, plans change, and here I am (with a special thanks to Chad Beatty and Eric DeGrechie for hiring me). Outside of work my passions include cooking, reading and writing (if that wasn’t obvious already), music and being around people. I love to talk to new friends and learn new things, which I believe helps me fit comfortably in the world of journalism. I’m very excited about this new opportunity and am looking forward to serving the city of Saratoga Springs and have great hopes for my career. My desk is always open and feel free to contact me at
