Ballston Spa - James E. Shannon died Friday (Feb. 22, 2008) at his home. He was 80.

Born on Aug. 1, 1927 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late James C. and Agnes (Sullivan) Shannon. James enjoyed the outdoors, exploring his Celtic ancestry and his greatest pleasure was his family. He was a member of Saratoga Council 246 Knights of Columbus and a communicant of Corpus Christi Church.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Thomas Shannon and one son, Jeffrey Shannon.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia R. Forbes; his children, Donna, Karen and Maureen Shannon, Andrea Cooper, Mark Shannon, Deborah Swinton, Laurie, Joseph and Stephen Shannon; stepson, Michael Pidgeon; one sister, Mary Alice Shannon, SNJM; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends called Tuesday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2008. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Rt. 9 at Ushers Road in Clifton Park.

Spring burial will be in Jonesville Cemetery.
