Ballston Spa - Wendy S. (Guckemus) Masten, of Route 67, died at her home Monday (Feb. 11, 2008) after a long illness. She was 52.

Born on March 15, 1955 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul G. and Evelyn (Decker) Guckemus and was a 1973 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. She was employed with the NYS Unified Court System, working in the Washington County Family Court. All knew Wendy as a special person and her devotion to family, her creativity, generosity and loving manner will never be forgotten. Wendy’s greatest pleasure in life was her family, especially the children. She happily spent many hours planning parties and carnivals for them and sadly will be missed but always happily remembered by all.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by two brothers, Paul G. and Robert J. Guckemus.

Survivors include her husband, David Masten, whom she married in 1977; two sons, Eric (Lisa) Masten and Cory (Sybil Browning) Masten; one daughter, Abby (Todd) Mabb; six grandchildren; one goddaughter and “pretend grammy” to six; three sisters, Evelyn (Curtis) Lundgren, Lena (Thomas) Martin, Gretchen Guckemus and one brother, Gary (Sandra) Guckemus.

A private service is planned by the family.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to a children’s charity of ones choice or to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

The family is very appreciative of the care and support during their time of need. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the many friends and relatives as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Saratoga and Glens Falls Hospitals and Community Hospice.
