Mildred “Millie” Petel
Saratoga Springs-Mildred “Millie” Petel passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. She was 85. Born March 15, 1922 in Fort Edward, New York, she is the daughter of the late William S. and Dora Close Deyoe. She was a former resident of the Home of the Good Shepherd and Stonequist Apartments. Millie was a member of the Wilton Senior Citizen Center, the Saratoga Springs Senior Center, the Wilton Heritage Society, M.O.C. #77, A.A.R.P. and the Wilton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a life member of the Gurtler Brothers Post #420 VFW. In addition to her parents, Millie was predeceased by her loving husband John Petel, who passed away in 1982, five sisters, Ethel Murray, Edna Brackett, Madeline Fischer, Gladys Clark and Betty Hamm, three brothers, Hamilton, Francis and Wesley Deyoe. She is survived by two sons, Emlyn Petel and his wife Helen of Charlton, William Petel and his wife Patricia of Saratoga Springs, two daughters, Marguerite Burns and her husband Joseph of Wilton and Carol Hebert and her husband Larry of Baraga, Michigan, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the spring. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Avenue.
