William L. Graul, Jr
Saratoga Springs – William L. Graul, Jr., of Jumel Place, passed away Thursday evening (Jan. 31, 2008) at his residence, surrounding by his loving family. He was 92. Born on February 17, 1915 in Jamaica, NY, he was a son of the late William L. and Mary (Graf) Graul, Sr., and moved to Saratoga Springs with his family in 1920. He was a 1932 graduate of St. Peter’s Academy and graduated from the Eastman School of Business. He was a member and secretary of the Board of Directors of the Foothills Corporation and retired as vice president of Tarrant Manufacturing Company after 50 years of service. A charter member of Saratoga Columbian Squires Circle 38 and a third degree member of Saratoga Council 246 Knights of Columbus, he was a former vice-president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and a communicant of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church. Bill enjoyed family vacations to Cape Cod and thoroughbred racing, watching races from the backstretch at Saratoga Race Course for many years, along with an avid interest in baseball. After retirement, he especially enjoyed golfing with his wife and grandsons, David and Mark Dejnozka. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his five brothers and sisters; John, Henry and Virginia Graul, Gertrude Hyde and Mary Callahan. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Anne M. (Murphy) Graul, whom he married on Dec. 16, 1944; his four children and their spouses, Anne (Jack) Dejnozka and William L. (Donlynn) Graul, III, all of Saratoga Springs, Michael A. (Diana) Graul of Granby, CO and Jane (John) Valetta of New York City; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends called Sunday afternoon at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue. Burial will follow at the family plot in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Ave. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
