The highlight of golfing activity over the weekend centered around the Saratoga County Amateur Championship. A two-day affair, it began at the Van Patten Golf Course with 93 golfers participating in the largest field ever. The top gross 24 players, including seniors (50 and up), moved over to the Saratoga National Golf Course for their final round. The two-day combined score determined the winner.

Aaron Aubuchon used his home-course advantage to shoot 82 coupled with his 67 at Van Patten’s for a 149 total and claimed the coveted trophy. The runner-up spot on rounds of 74-78-152 was last year’s champion, Marco Poccia of McGregor Links.

The senior champion was Mechanicville native Ralph Maru with a total of 153 (75-78). Two strokes off the pace at 155 (76-79) was Eagle Crest owner Bill Paulson.
