Snow has turned Saratoga Springs into a “winter wonderland” outside and on Saturday, Feb. 2 the City Center will transform into a “Winter Wonderland” too.

That is the theme for the Eleventh Annual Bartender’s Ball, put on by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. Originally established as a way to honor the hospitality industry, the event has grown and is open to the public.

Linda Page, an administrative assistant for the chamber, said each year the gross ticket sale is turned over to a local charity. The first year raised $13,000 for the Salvation Army and last year the YMCA of Saratoga received $26,566.

Page said the most raised was $35,000. This year’s beneficiary is the Universal Preservation Hall, which is located on Washington Street.

This year’s event is the same weekend as the Winterfest and Chowderfest.

The event will feature hors d’oeuvres followed by a buffet dinner and a late evening dessert buffet. Dancing begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail party and continues through midnight with Soul Session featuring Garland Nelson playing

Page said tickets for the Bartender’s Ball costs $50 per person and $500 for a table of 10. A dance floor table costs $550. The total capacity for the event is about 700 people, and Page said anyone interested should call sooner rather than later.

“A lot of people come each year,” Page said. “It’s a real fun atmosphere.”

The cut-off date is Jan. 25. To make a reservation call Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce at 28 Clinton Street in Saratoga Springs or by calling

584-3255.

“All-in-all it is a real good time and benefits a good cause,” Page said.

A release from the chamber said the Bartender’s Ball is made possible because of hospitality industry sponsors.

The major sponsors include:  U.S. Food Service, SYSCO Foods, The Saratogian, DeCrescente Distributing, Pepsi-Cola, Saratoga Eagle Sales & Service, the Adirondack Trust Company, the Holiday Inn - Saratoga, the Saratoga Hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott, the Residence Inn by Marriott, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway and the Gideon Putnam Resort & Spa.
