Seven years ago it was a vision. Now it is a reality.

The Mahogany Bar Room opened at Lake Ridge Restaurant in Round Lake in October 2007 and adds that little something to the restaurant.

Bob McKenna and chef Scott Ringwood bought the restaurant in February 2001. Purchasing the restaurant was a dream in itself for the duo, but the restaurant didn’t have a bar.

“We always wanted to install a bar,” McKenna said. “Now our dream is complete.”

They got the bar room approved by the town zoning board and took converted an existing dining room into what is now the Mahogany Bar Room.

“The name has a nice flow to it,” McKenna said.

The bar is mahogany and took about four weeks to renovate. The room is about 12-feet-by-12-feet and offers just bar seating. There is also two flat screen televisions in the bar room, McKenna said.

“It was an extensive transformation,” McKenna said. “Everything was custom built.”

There are three separate dining rooms at Lake Ridge, which are separated from the bar room.

With the addition of the bar, Lake Ridge’s wine list and beer selection expanded.

The menu offers pasta, fish, Angus beef, homemade soups and homemade deserts.

McKenna said the restaurant is a great place, has a great staff and great customers.

“You couldn’t ask for anything more,” he said.

He said Lake Ridge was named the best American Cuisine restaurant in the Capital Region in 2006.

“It’s a great dining experience,” McKenna said. “If you haven’t been to Lake Ridge, you haven’t treated yourself.”

Lake Ridge Restaurant is located at 35 Burlington Ave. in Round Lake. McKenna said the establishment is conveniently  located off of Exit 11 off the Northway.

Lunch hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday. Dinner hours are 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Lake Ridge is closed on Monday.

Reservations are recommended.
