Secret Secret Dino Club

Who’s who:

Jayce Kalinkewicz - vocals, guitar, accordion, mandolin, wood block, etc.

About the band:

Saratoga Springs’ Secret Secret Dino Club has built a loyal fan base in its two years of existence. As the group’s sole member, 19 year-old Jayce Kalinkewicz plays every instrument and writes all the songs. However, the SUNY Oneonta sophomore does frequently have different DJs provide him with some solid beats.

Artists such as Bayside, Gatsby’s American Dream, Boys Night Out, The Chariot and Saves The Day have influenced the outfit’s electro indie pop music. MTVu liked Secret Secret Dino Club’s sound enough to purchase the rights to five of the group’s songs for use in their programming.

After putting out two EPs, Secret Secret Dino Club will release their first full-length album, “Big Whoop, Wanna Fight About It,” on Nov. 24. Fans of the band will have another reason to celebrate this holiday season since “Ho Ho Ho No!,” an EP of Christmas standards, will be completely free with a donation to Toys for Tots.

Since the band’s inception, Secret Secret Dino Club has opened for many well-known acts including Damone, Apollo Sunshine, Forgive Durden, Matchbook Romance and Nightmare of You. The group has both regional and national tours planned for 2008.

Secret Secret Dino Club is playing an all ages CD release show at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Unitarian Church in Queensbury with Prima, The Bright Light Motion, Tone Pony and Burn Wallstreet. Tickets are $5 in advance, and $7 at the door.

Quotable Quotes:

“Expect a lot of funny sounds in-between songs. There will be strange movements and things you’ve never seen before in a show,” Kalinkewicz said.
