It is official.
The GOP will hold a 3-2 advantage when the Saratoga Springs City Council meets in 2008. Republican Ken Ivins’ lead after the Nov. 6 general election held up after the absentee ballots were tallied and will be the Commissioner of Finance. Ivins led Democrat Jane Weihe by 154 votes after the general election. Ivins takes over for Independent Matt McCabe, who chose not to run for a third term. The final count was 4,178 to 4,013, a 165-vote margin of victory. Ivins joins mayor-elect Scott Johnson and new Commissioner of Public Works, Anthony “Skip” Scirocco, giving the Republicans an edge. Democratic Commissioner of Public Safety Ron Kim beat out Republican Richard Wirth in the election and Democratic Commissioner of Accounts John Franck ran unopposed. |
