In the year she’s been open, Debra Docyk owner of Sanctuary Spa, has seen the spa evolve.
Docyk opened her spa at 72 Railroad Place in August 2006 and expanded services with a full-service salon in December 2006. “I can’t believe it’s been a year,” she said. “I don’t know where it went.” In the past year, she said there have been a lot of repeat clients for both the spa and salon. “Our name is out there,” she said. Docyk said she’s brought in hydrotherapy into the spa and has been great addition to the services. She said deep sea wraps and body indulge will be their signature treatments. She said the re-mineralizing body wrap, bath and massage will help strengthen the immune system. Pressotherapy, a 25-minute treatment aids circulation and is good for restless leg syndrome and the prevention of spider veins, according to Docyk. “We are also in the process of putting in a private makeup center that we’ll use for wedding parties and makeup lessons,” Docyk said. Docyk said some of the clientele like getting the medical treatments at the spa, because it doesn’t feel like doctors office and they are more relaxed. “We are a one stop shop for medical treatment and spa services,” she said. She said people will come in get a massage, then head over to the salon and go about their day. Docyk has noticed a high percentage of men in the salon and said they are great clients, along with the clients under the age of 21. Docyk said many young women have come in for makeup applications, hair styling and spray tans for homecoming and prom. There is a couple’s room at the spa as well for massages and facials. She said that is popular for mother and daughters coming in or for wedding parties. “That room is busy all the time,” she said. Docyk said Shannon Delgado runs the salon with her staff of three stylists. She said she couldn’t be happier with the staff at the salon and spa. She said from the moment a client calls to when they leave the spa, they have a wonderful experience. “I hear it’s like hotel spa, without the hotel,” Docyk said. Even with the services expanded to in the last year Docyk said there is still more to come. New product lines and accessories will be coming soon. “It will add to the ambience of the spa,” she said. Docyk said the first year has been a huge learning experience and that it’s been a real team effort. That has led Docyk’s spa to be in two national magazines in her first year of business. |
