Image Photo and Digital Lab has a new home and image.
Owner Elizabeth Macy said the move to 63 Putnam St. gives the business almost 6,000 square-feet, tripling the size of the Broadway location. “I was going to be moving from the area, but my heart’s in Saratoga,” Macy said. “I decided to stay in the business I grew up in.” Her family has owned Image for 35 years. Macy had thought of selling the business, but opted to relocate and expand. “We looked everywhere for a new location, but wanted to stay downtown and be apart of the community,” Macy said. “We loved this space and saw a good opportunity here.” The move allowed for an expansion of the photo services offered. There will be a photo gallery, two portrait studios and a custom framing section for customers. “It all goes together,” Macy said of the extended services. “I always thought of doing custom framing but we had space limitations.” Macy hopes to have the gallery and custom framing up-and-running in the next couple of weeks. She closed the store for two days last week before reopening on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Macy said they will offer wedding, reunions and other special event services, along with offering more specialty items. Additional staff was hired, bringing the number of employees to eight. There is room for future growth within the new space, according to Macy. She said the staff made the move quick and said everyone is excited about the move. Image has designated parking for customers in the parking lot across from the Saratoga Springs Public Library. Image is located at 63 Putnam St., across from the library and behind Doc’s Steakhouse.
