The Lake George Arts Project will host a Poetry Workshop with Susan Jefts from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Courthouse Gallery in Lake George.
A poetry reading will follow at 3 p.m. Since 2002, Jefts, a resident of Saratoga Springs, has facilitated numerous poetry workshops at various venues such as Glens Falls Hospital, Maplewood Nursing Home, Schenectady County Community College, Silver Bay Conference Center and the Saratoga Poetry Festival. Her poetry has been published in national and local journals including Parnassus Library Journal, Big City Lit, Byline, The Museletter, Parabalas Press and Poetry Day. Saturday’s workshop will examine autumnal themes in poetry, exploring how images, words and sounds hold meaning in people’s lives. Weather permitting, some of the time will be spent outside by the lake. Jefts believes the workshop will be a stimulating experience for writers of all levels and folks in general. “People can connect these themes to their own lives. It’s a great opportunity to explore our lives and our selves,” she said. The workshop fee is $20. This event was funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. with public funds from the New York Sate Council on the Arts. On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Jefts will be starting another workshop in Saratoga Springs. The exact location for the six week program has yet to be determined. For more information, call either The Arts Project at 668-2616 or Jefts at 232-6776. |
