Who’s who:

Joey Gero - vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, etc.

About the band:

The industrial/alternative metal group began approximately a year ago. 8th Note’s sole member Joey Gero is a self-taught musician who writes, constructs and records every aspect of the band’s music.

Artists such as Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, Deadsy, Primus, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Alien Ant Farm, Green Day and Chevelle have influenced his music. Fans have compared Gero’s singing to that of Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd.

Aside from a dozen of his own ditties, Gero also plays cover songs including “Stupid Girl” by Garbage, “Sweet Sacrifice” by Evanescence, “Vitamin R” by Chevelle and “Shadow of the Day” by Linkin Park.

Gero and his father are in the midst of building a studio in their basement. Once they’re done, Gero said he plans to record a higher quality version of the album he’s almost finished.

In addition to 8th Note, the 17-year-old senior at Saratoga Springs High School is also a member of 8X9 and The Brandon James Band. After graduation he hopes to tour with one of the bands.

8th Note doesn’t have any shows lined up now, but Gero said to check the Web site for updates. He’s currently putting together a talented ensemble to perform his songs live with.

Quotable Quotes:

“I think it’s important that songs have a message. People seem to be shying away from that,” Gero said.

“I love the feeling I get from writing music. It’s like when an artist paints a picture, and everything comes together. It can be really beautiful,” Gero said.
