Zunker currently serves as vice president of the Columbia, S.C., Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau. During his tenure, he directed a convention and meetings sales staff that quadrupled room night bookings in five years; helped to develop an interactive Internet marketing strategy; coordinated strategic marketing, community relations and public relations programs.

He also teaches marketing and tourism management courses as an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Carolina and is immediate past president of the South Carolina Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

“Saratoga seems like a community that is really united behind tourism, travel and hospitality, which is very exciting, you don’t find that very often,” said Zunker. “Everyone really is on board and very supportive and that’s an environment that is very attractive.”

Zunker said he is excited to make the move up to the area, noting he’s heard about the excitement and beauty of the Saratoga region from his wife of nearly 25 years, Elizabeth Butler, a 1980 Skidmore graduate.
