Ken Tremont, Jr., of West Sand Lake, won for the second time in a row and for the fourth time this year at Albany Saratoga Speedway last Friday night.

Just like last week, Tremont did it in dramatic fashion. He didn’t gain the lead until the final laps. Front Row starter Don Ackner and Ron Proctor battled for the lead at the start of the 35-Lap feature.

A couple early race Cautions kept the field tightly bunched as  fifth starter, Don Ronca, joined the lead battle by Lap 7. Ronca and Proctor ran side-by-side for several laps with Ronca taking the lead on Lap 13.

Ronca paced the field while Ronnie Johnson and Brett Hearn moved past Proctor for second and third-place on Lap 19, but the car that was really on the move was the #115 of Ken Tremont.

Tremont started 17, but was among the Top 5 by Lap 20 and on Lap 25, passed Johnson for second. Tremont was closing in on Ronca when the caution flag came out on Lap 31 for the broken car of Don Ackner.

Ronca, looking for his first win since 1997, now had only four laps to keep Tremont behind him.

When the green lights came back on, Tremont, who does most of his passing on the inside groove, put his car on the outside of Ronca and motored by with just three laps to go.

Tremont, who had an eight-point lead over Hearn going into the race, lengthened his point lead with his 47th career win at the track.

Ronca held on to second, his best run of the year. Ronnie Johnson was third, while  Hearn finished fourth and Jeff Trombley was fifth.

As the Modifieds crossed the finish line, persistent rain showers started which forced the postponement of the Sportsmen, Pro-Street Stocks and Limited Divisions until this Friday.

Racing that took place earlier in the evening included the Budget Sportsmen class where Paul Dunham passed Kris Bradbury on Lap 16 and went on to record his fifth win of the year.

Fred Proctor moved into second late in the race, but had nothing for leader Dunham who has won five of the seven Budget Sportsmen races held at the track. Alex Bell was third over Bradbury and Jared McMahon.

The Central New York Mini-Sprints made their second appearance of the season at the track.

Long-time Fonda Speedway modified driver Art Kiser took his first win at the Malta oval holding off Jared Fink, Don Harvey, Jr., Matt Norrie and Bubba Broderick.

This Friday, in addition to the postponed races from last week,   AAA Northway presents CVRA.com 100 for Modifieds. With all other divisions competing, it will be a busy night.  Racing gets underway at 6:45 p.m.
