Musician’s Corner

Alex and Zac

Who’s who:

Alex Grout – guitar, vocals and keyboard

Zac Rossi – guitar and background vocals

About the artists:

The acoustic pop/rock duo started collaborating three months ago. Grout and Rossi met at SUNY Oneonta, where they both study Music Industry.

During the past two years, Grout has been honing his guitar skills and taking vocal lessons. The 21 year-old Clifton Park resident aspires to one day become a sound engineer.

Rossi, 20, is a native of Saratoga Springs. In the future, he is interested in working as a professional guitarist.

The pair has been influenced by artists such as John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Eric Clapton, Dream Theater, Tim Reynolds and John Scofield.

The duo’s sets usually contain a few cover songs, but consist mainly of the 20 original tunes they’ve written. Rossi said people can check them out at Gaffney’s, where they’ll be regularly playing every three weeks.

Alex and Zac are playing an all ages show at 6 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Good Shepherd Church in Glenville with Faster Than Fashion, Royden, On The A.M., The High Court, Peachcake and Last Minute Letter. Tickets are $8.

Quotable Quotes:

“I like to entertain. I like to keep people engaged,” Grout said. “If I feel like people aren’t having a good time, than I’m not having a good time either.”

“People can expect musicianship, professionalism and raw songwriting when they see us,” Rossi said.
