Business - Limoncello nears reopening date at new location PDF Print E-mail

The preparations are just about complete for the grand reopening of Limoncello Ristorante at their new location on Ballston Avenue.

After abruptly closing in September 2007, the business has relocated to the site of the old Haweli Indian Restaurant on the corner of South Broadway and Ballston Avenue and will offer guests several semi-private dining areas, an outdoor patio and bar area and a garden.

“We are extremely excited to open and we are happy to have found a new home for our restaurant,” said co-owner Nancy Balestra. “We owe so much to our friends in the community for their encouragement.”

Compared to their old location, the restaurant has doubled in size, allowing a capacity of 175 guests. It will open just in time for track season, with plenty of time to enjoy the warm weather on the 1,500 square foot outdoor patio.

“We are right there—just about done,” Balestra said. “We just have to tie up a few loose ends like setting up the dining area and adding a coat of paint. It’s going to have a very bright, fresh look and feel.”

The outdoor patio will feature an Italian garden similar to the garden at the old location with almost 200 Arborvitae trees and will be large enough to host weddings and private parties.

Parking will not be an issue as the property has its own parking lot as well as nearby street parking. By this fall there will be sidewalks to attract pedestrian traffic also.

“We are excited to be a part of the ongoing beautification project at the heart of Saratoga Springs. Considering the proximity to Congress Park and the new condominium project on Broadway, these new additions will enhance the entire area and invite more people to explore the many businesses on South Broadway,” Balestra said.

Balestra and her husband Giancarlo opened the original Limoncello in the Granite Palace on Broadway in 2006 and offered an authentic Italian menu. Giancarlo is a native of Rome, Italy and many of his dishes are family recipes. The menu will remain basically the same, with a few additions that Giancarlo brought back from his last trip to Italy this past winter, Baletstra said.

Many of the old staff members from the original location will be returning to the restaurant also.

Adding to the Italian menu, the Balestras have built a large wine cellar and will feature a large variety of fine Italian wines.

“My husband is very into the wines right now. We are going to start holding wine tastings. There’s a lot to be excited about,” Nancy Balestra said. “We are just excited to reopen our doors to the community who has given up so much encouragement and support.”
