Betty S. Butler

 

Glens Falls – Betty S. Butler, 85, a former resident of South Glens Falls, passed away quietly on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Eden Park Health Care Center in Glens Falls.

 

Born July 10, 1922 in the Town of Moreau, she was the daughter of the late Tracy and Grace (Brackett) Saville.

 

Betty was a 1940 graduate of South Glens Falls High School. She married Robert Butler in 1942 and they operated a dairy farm in Gansevoort. She was employed for 15 years at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in Bedford Hills, NY. She was a devoted and caring person who took care of her family and friends. She enjoyed bowling and writing short stories and poems.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Saville and a sister, Gladys Carpenter.

 

Survivors include her three daughters, Sharon Butler Auman and her husband Verdon of Gansevoort, Sandy Butler of Queensbury, and Susan Smith and her husband Victor of Gansevoort; a son, Timothy Butler and his wife Beverly of Gansevoort; her sisters, Joyce Bentley of Largo, FL and Beverly Alden of Ft. Edward, NY; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Gurn Springs Cemetery,  

Wilton, NY. Memorials can be made to the Moreau Emergency Squad or the Gansevoort Fire Dept.
