Josephine “Josie” Staigar
Ballston Spa – Josephine “Josie” Staigar, 87, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Saratoga County Maplewood Manor in the accompaniment of her family. Born on February 24, 1921 in Greenwich, NY, she was the daughter of Carmella and V. Joseph Marion. She is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, John M. Staigar; one brother, Peter Parrino; five sisters, Anne Quinn, Frances Green, Rose Parrino, Jennie Pacella, Mary Izzo; and one grandchild, Jeffrey Szot. Josie is survived by her youngest sister, Antoinette “Toni” Lesson of Greenwich, NY; two daughters, Joanne Szot of Ballston Spa and Carol Puglisi of Glenville; six grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Jennifer and Jaron Szot; Nellie Lovenduski and Sadie Puglisi; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Josie was a retiree of Skidmore College. She was a lifetime member of the Greenfield Fire District #4 Women’s Auxiliary on Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs and an active member of the Senior Citizens Center on Travers Road in Wilton, NY where contributions may be made in her name. At Josie’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Avenue in Saratoga on Monday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m. Josie and her family sincerely appreciated the care and affection she received by the staff during her stay at Maplewood Manor.
