Both will offer you lots of fun. Airway Meadows will be holding its annual Couples Tournament on Saturday, July 12 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start and a noon check-in. Format is a two-person (one male, one female) scramble. Afterwards, there will be a tournament picnic during the awards announcements. Cost is $68 per person and includes golf, cart, food and prizes. Deadline for registration is Monday, July 7. For information, call Airway Meadows Golf Course at 792-4144. The second tournament will be a fundraiser for the Greenfield Community and Business Association. It will be the first tournament of its kind in Greenfield, but hopefully it will become an annual event. The GCBA is a non-profit organization and all proceeds will go towards current and future community service projects in the town of Greenfield. Tournament Chairperson Agnes Pompa knows the local residents and businesses will rally to make sure the tournament will be successful. Small towns like Greenfield have great community pride, but the tourney could use “outside help” to make it extremely successful. The tourney is scheduled for Saturday, July 26 over the challenging Brookhaven Golf Club and is open to anyone who appreciates the town of Greenfield as they drive through their very quaint and picturesque village. In true Upstate fashion, neighbors help neighbors. The festivities begin with registration and a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. Then there will be a shotgun start with a four-man scramble format promptly at 9 a.m. The entry fee is a minimal $60 and it includes golf, cart, buffet lunch, gift bag and the opportunity to win a new car or $10,000 for a hole-in-one and a Brookhaven membership is available. Fun events include a putting contest, long drive, closest to pin and a 50/50 raffle. If you are a true friend of Greenfield and would like to contribute more, Pompa has provided other possibilities through sponsorship. Rewards given for each sponsorship increase by the type of sponsorship: Emerald ($1,000), Platinum ($500), Gold ($250), Silver ($125) or hole/tee ($100). Pompa will explain the advantages of each by calling at 893-7458 to register as a sponsor as an individual. It costs only $60 to help a community and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow golfers, it doesn’t get any better than that. Hope to see you there, but don’t hesitate to register participation is limited. |
