Silas will be remembered by all who knew him for his many contributions in his younger years managing youth baseball in Saratoga Springs. Cy was an avid baseball fan. He was a member of the Green Sabres in Schuylerville and enjoyed marching in various parades. Later in his life he loved working at the flat track at Saratoga and is remembered as the “man who drove the judge’s car” and as “a great guy everyone loved.” Most of all, Cy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved bowling with his late wife, watching his grandsons’ sports activities and following their many accomplishments. As of most recent, he was so proud of his grandson Chris achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed snuggling with his great-grandson and watching him play. He lived with his daughter and her family and all enjoyed so many special, memorable moments. He will be remembered by his children for his legacy of love, patience, kindness toward others, strength and independence. Besides his parents, Silas is predeceased by the love of his life, Shirley Ann Streeter Haley whom he married on August 17, 1946 and with whom he shared 33 wonderful years; two brothers, Jerry and Robert (Rollie) Haley and three sisters, Beverly DeNew, Alice Miner and Deanna Knapp. Survivors include his son, Jack E.
